This was be a two center Prospective Randomized Open, Blinded End-point (PROBE) non inferiority randomized controlled trial (Phase I/II) which will be conducted at The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and National Heart Hospital (NHH). The aim was to compare the procedural and acute clinical outcomes of patients with large pericardial effusions treated with echo-guided once off complete drainage in one sitting and those treated with percutaneous pericardiocentesis with extended catheter drainage.
