Assistant Professor, Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology, MD Anderson Cancer Center
Location: United States
Research Interests: Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and novel chemopreventive modalities are great ly needed. 15-Lipoxygenase-1 (15-LOX-1) is down-regulated in various human cancers, such as esophageal, breast, and pancreatic cancers. 15-LOX-1 re-expression via pharmaceutical agents or adenoviral vectors induces growth inhibition and reestablishes terminal differentiation and apoptosis in cancer cells. My major research interests are to define the mechanisms of 15-LOX-1 transcription silencing in cancer cells and develop interventions to molecularly target 15-LOX-1 transcriptional silencing to suppress colonic tumorigenesis.
