Professional Narrative

I am a Health Professions Clinical Educator with experience in HIV Pharmacotherapeutics, Herbal Medicine Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Trials and Pharmaceutical Regulation. I have developed several Continuing Professional Education curricula, and train doctors, nurses and pharmacists in the same.

My research interests lie in the safe integration of conventional and herbal medicine. I am an independent thinker who thrives on new challenges and have exceptional follow through. I successfully completed several Forgaty fellowships focused on medication safety; including a pharmacology one at UCSF, and a clinical pharmacology one at SUNY Buffalo; gaining expertise in antiretroviral drug pharmacokinetics and therapeutic drug monitoring. Of note, I successfully conducted the first regulatory approved clinical trial with a herbal intervention in Zimbabwe. Publications from this work were instrumental in the establishment of regulatory frameworks for herbal trials and herbal medicine evaluation in Zimbabwe.

I have a proven medical writing track record, having been competitively awarded several research grants and published research articles in peer reviewed scientific journals. I have also contributed to various national and global policy documents and currently mentor postgraduate research fellows in scientific writing and research dissemination.

From my past roles as Pharmacy lead for an international HIV treatment non-profit organisation, and a DAIDS funded clinical trial, I also gained experience in antiretroviral drug supply logistics for large multi-site trials and treatment programs, including shipping and storage of sensitive dosage forms.
