Yanping received her medical degree from Tianjin Medical School in China, a Master of Science from the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine in 2000, and PhD in 2008 from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Her research interests include: (1) Trends of lifestyle factors and their association with obesity and other chronic diseases among the Chinese population; (2) Fetal programming of chronic diseases and its interaction with lifestyle factors in adulthood; (3) Genes and environmental interactions in relation to the risk of obesity and diabetes; and (4) restless legs syndrome and other sleep disorders among Americans.
