Professional Narrative

Sharmila Dorbala, MD, MPH is the Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. She is the immediate Past President of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. She is a clinical expert in advanced cardiac SPECT and PET imaging and her research is focused on molecular imaging of cardiac amyloidosis.

Dr. Dorbala is passionate about teaching nuclear cardiology, cardiac PET/CT, and amyloidosis imaging. She has presented at medical society meetings regionally, nationally, and internationally and has authored or coauthored more than 200 articles. Dr. Dorbala has served as a principal investigator for several clinical research studies in ischemic heart disease and cardiac amyloidosis imaging with research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, Foundation, Philanthropic, and Industry grants.
