Professional Narrative

Dr. Gandhi has more than 25 years of experience in HIV clinical research including expertise highly relevant to his leadership position in the Harvard University Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).  He has been the leader of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Clinical Trials Site (CRS) in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) since 2005. He has also served in multiple leadership roles in the ACTG, including as vice-chair and chair of the ACTG HIV Reservoirs and Viral Eradication Transformative Science Group.  Raj is a member of the ACTG Scientific Agenda Steering Committee and a member of the ACTG Executive Committee.  He has developed and led many clinical trials, including therapeutic vaccine trials, antiretroviral intensification trials, studies of latency reactivation agents, and a large cohort study of HIV reservoirs in participants on long-term antiretroviral therapy. Raj has also led multiple investigator-initiated studies of HIV immune-based therapies at MGH. He has been the Harvard University CFAR Clinical Core director since 2005, and an active member of the CFAR Executive Committee. Raj is also the director of HIV Clinical Services and Education at MGH and now the Co-Director and Principal Investigator of the HU CFAR.
