Professional Narrative

Dr. James Rodrigue completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Memphis in 1989. Currently, he is Professor (Surgery and Psychiatry) in the Harvard Medical School and Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is Director of the BIDMC Transplant Institute’s Center for Transplant Outcomes and Quality Improvement, and co-directs the Department of Surgery’s Surgery Outcomes Analysis & Research (SOAR) program.

Clinically, he is Director of Behavioral Health Services in the Transplant Institute, where he has developed behavioral health pathways to improve post-transplant and post-donation outcomes, as well as novel strategies to reduce racial and income disparities in transplantation. Dr. Rodrigue has been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on over 30 research grants from NIH, HRSA, private research foundations, state agencies, and industry – all in the fields of organ transplantation and organ donation.
