I am an Associate Professor at Gregory School of Pharmacy, Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida, USA. I served for 13 years as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I was coordinating and teaching courses at graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to teaching and conducting research,

The focus areas of my research are 1) molecular epidemiology of Staphylococcus aureus infection and colonization, including whole genome sequencing analysis; 2) Tests for new drugs against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and 3) molecular pathogenesis of bacterial infection in mouse and rabbit models; 4) Active surveillance for serological evaluation and RT-qPCR for virus detection among infected subjects with COVID-19.

I have served for two years as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) in collaboration with Dr. Binh Diep. My research at UCSF focused on the pathogenesis of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in mouse and rabbit infection models.

I am now leading a university group of professionals fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. This group runs serological and Viral RNA detection through RT-qPCR within the population of the city of Niteroi in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.
