Danny McCormick, MD, MPH, is a primary care physician, an Associate Professor of Medicine at HMS, Director of Research in the Department of Medicine and Co-Director of the Center for Health Equity Education and Advocacy at CHA. He leads a research group with interests that focus on US health care financing, health care reform and access to and quality of care for marginalized patient populations, including the uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities, immigrants, prisoners, veterans and patients receiving care in safety-net systems of care. His research work has been supported by numerous foundation, state and federal grants including funding by NIH and PCORI. He is an esteemed mentor and is a past recipient of the A. Clifford Barger Award for excellence in mentoring at HMS, the Academic Council Award for scholarship and teaching, and CHA’s Outpatient Attending of the Year award. His research fellows have won multiple research presentation awards from SGIM (Lipkin Award [4], Hamolsky Award [2] and Women’s Health Award [1]). He also served as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow at the National Academy of Medicine in Washington, DC and as a staff member of the United States Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions.
