Andrea Farkas Patenaude, PhD, is a clinical and research psychologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she is the director of Psycho-Oncology Research in the Division of Pediatric Oncology, and at the Children’s Hospital, Boston. She is also an associate professor of psychology in the department of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School, Boston. For more than 30 years Patenaude has worked with patients and family members affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Her research focus is on pediatric cancer survivors and on the psychosocial impact of cancer genetic testing on individuals and families. Patenaude is the author of “Genetic Testing for Cancer: Psychological Approaches to Helping Patients and Families” (American Psychological Association Books, 2005)
