Amir Kimia received his MD in Medicine from the Technion Medical School in Israel. He did a residency in Pediatrics at Schneider Children’s Hospital in Israel and a combined fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Medical Informatics at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kimia completed a clinical effectiveness program at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Kimia joined the faculty of the Division of Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital in 2005.
Dr. Kimia’s research interests include the diagnostic evaluation of common presenting neurologic syndromes in the emergency setting. His previous work has included studies on febrile seizures, seizures by semiology, and acute ataxia. On the methodology side, his recent efforts have focused on implementation of Natural Language Processing methods for mining data embedded in the clinical narrative.
